How to Select AC Units According to Room Area

Updated: Jul 25

People have a strong sensitivity to the surrounding temperature. A suitable room temperature can make people feel comfortable and beneficial to their health. For generally healthy people, the physiological temperature is about 28℃. Therefore, the temperature of the air-conditioned room should be about 28℃, and because the outdoor temperature is too low in winter, in order to maintain a certain balance and applicability, the indoor temperature should be lower in winter, about 18℃. Generally speaking, the cooling capacity of an air conditioner is calculated based on the cooling capacity of 150-220W per square meter. The cooling capacity of 1 horse power is generally 2000W-2500W. So you can calculate the AC unit based on your room area as below:

A. 1 hp air conditioner is suitable for a space of about 12m2.

B. 1.5 hp air conditioner is suitable for a space of about 18m2.

C. 2 HP air conditioners are suitable for a space of about 28m2.

D. 2.5 HP air conditioner is suitable for a space of about 40m2.

E. 3 HP air conditioners are suitable for a space of about 50m2.

F. 5 HP air conditioners are suitable for a space of about 70m2.

Note:

1. The size of the living room, as well as the sealing and heat preservation conditions, have a great influence on the cooling and heating efficiency of the air conditioner. Generally speaking, 1 hp air conditioner is suitable for an area of 10 ~ 12m2, and a 1.5 hp air conditioner is for a room with an area of 16 ~ 20m2; A 2-hp air conditioner is suitable for a room of about 20 ~ 25m2, a 3-hp air conditioner is suitable for a living room with an area of about 30 ~ 40m2, and so on.

2. The larger the hp of air conditioners, the higher the efficiency of cooling and heating. However, blindly choosing an air conditioner with an excessive horse power will only waste power and is not suitable for small apartments.
